Ionizing Radiation

Course Description 

While radiation provides numerous advantages, it can also pose risks to our health and the environment. Although we can’t completely eliminate radiation, this training will teach you how to minimize your exposure and associated risks. This course is especially beneficial for workers whose responsibilities involve spending time in areas where harmful radiation might be present.

Course Objectives 

• Define ionizing radiation.
• Identify types and sources of ionizing radiation.
• Recognize the risks and health effects of radiation exposure.
• Describe basic practices to maintain radiation exposures “as low as reasonably achievable.”
• Recall measures used to control radiation doses in the workplace.
• Recognize what to do in an emergency involving ionizing radiation.
