Dust Mask – Voluntary Use Guidelines

Course Description 

Dust exposure in the workplace can present various health risks. When these risks reach a certain level, employers may require the use of respiratory protection. For minor hazards, a dust mask may be sufficient if not mandated. This course provides guidance on how to choose, wear, and maintain dust masks. It is designed for employees and supervisors in industries such as heavy equipment, manufacturing (production and maintenance), construction, and mining.

• Differentiate between types of respirators.
• Recognize situations in which it is a good idea to use a dust mask voluntarily.
• Recall how to use a dust mask properly.
• Determine if a dust mask is in good working order.
